The Minnesota Kicks, a professional soccer team in the North American Soccer League, began in 1976 when a group of Minnesota investors who earlier had bought the Denver Dynamos team moved it to Minnesota. Games were played in Metropolitan Stadium, Bloomington. The Kicks continued soccer in Minnesota through the 1981 season. Freddie Goodwin coached the team from 1976 to 1978 and from 1980 to 1981; Roy McCrohan coached the 1979-1980 season, and Geoff Barnett coached the 1981 season. ...
